Alors qu’ils étaient échappés sur la première étape du Critérium du Dauphiné, Quinten Hermans (Circus – Wanty Gobert) et Brent Van Moer (Lotto Soudal) ont chuté et ont été contraint à l’abandon.
Selon la Circus – Wanty Gobert, Quinten Hermans souffre du bras mais n’a rien de cassé. Il rentrera chez lui en voiture ce soir.
Brent Van Moer n’a pas de fracture non plus. Il souffre de contusions à l’épaule droite et au coude droit et a eu neuf points de suture au genou.
Il ne reste donc plus grand chose de cette première échappée. Sur les cinq coureurs présents à l’avant, trois ont déjà abandonné : en plus de Quinten Hermans et de Brent Van Moer, Niccolò Bonifazio a lui aussi jeté l’éponge en raison de douleurs au dos. Il ne reste plus que Tom-Jelte Slagter (B&B Hotels – Vital Concept p/b KTM) et Michael Schär (CCC) à l’avant.

Abandon @Brentvanmoer after crash in front group with @Quintenhermans . Fortunately no fractures were revealed. Brent suffers from contusions of right shoulder and right elbow and got nine stitches in the knee. Tomorrow further control. Get better soon, Brent!!
