Giulio Ciccone (Trek – Segafredo) ne disputera pas le contre-la-montre du Giro ce samedi. Le coureur italien a en effet abandonné l’épreuve italienne en raison d’une bronchite aigüe. « Giulio a souffert du Covid-19 en septembre. Sa condition physique, bien que suffisante pour être au Giro, ne pouvait pas être optimale. Les jours difficiles qui viennent de s’écouler ont affecté sa fragilité clinique. Nous avons évité de surcharger un physique déjà fatigué. » a expliqué le Dr Magni, médecin de l’équipe Trek – Segafredo.
Son équipe précise que tous les tests Covid-19 auxquels il a été soumis depuis le début du Giro sont revenus négatifs.
Unfortunately we have to announce that @giuliocicco1 has to withdraws from #Giro due to acute bronchitis. The decision was taken by team management in agreement with the rider to protect his health. Clinical investigations did not reveal any other pathological issues.

Important note on @giuliocicco1 – all the Covid-19 swabs to which Ciccone has been subjected from the beginning of the Giro until today (the last one, this morning, at the Hospital) were negative
